The Winery
Towards the end of the 19th Century (1884), Don Miguel Escorihuela Gascón, a man of great vision and determination, established one of the most prestigious wine companies in Argentina: Bodegas Escorihuela Gascón.

From the outset the key objective was to produce wines of the highest possible quality. Now in its third century producing wines, Bodegas Escorihuela Gascón constitutes the oldest functioning winery in Mendoza.

In the 1940’s the descendents of founder Don Miguel Escorihuela Gascón were so taken with the flavors of the Malbec grape that they decided to bottle Argentina’s first 100 % Malbec varietal wine. Little did they know which fifty years later, Malbec would become Argentina’s passport to the world of wine.

The current owners of the winery, the descendants of pioneering winegrower Nicolás Catena and his partners, have sought to continue Don Miguel’s innovative spirit both at the winery and in the vineyard.
