Wine Reviews: Enrique Foster > Reserva Malbec

Reserva Malbec 2004

Enrique Foster Reserva was made with 100% Malbec, hand-harvested from old vines planted in 1919 in our vineyard located 3000 ft above sea level in Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza. To enhance concentration of colour, aroma and tannins particular to Malbec, yield is limited by green harvesting to 7,500 lbs per acre. Following rigorous selection, the grapes were fermented for 15 days in small temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks. This wine was aged in our underground cellars for 12 months in French oak barrels. The movement of the wine from each of the several stages to the next in the wine-making process is achieved by gravity flow – without pumping.

This is a huge wine with fruity aroma and berry flavors, a stunning example of a full-bodied Malbec. Deep red violet with dark fruit aromas, firm structure and a long finish. Excellent with rich spiced dishes, strong cheeses, roast or grilled meats, tuna, and chocolate.
